We hold and attend special events in addition to our ongoing display and monthly General Meetings.
Special themed exhibitions
We are not a museum, but we are planning to stage a series of themed exhibitions over the next 2 years.
Heritage walks, bike trails and day trips
We occasionally organise local walks to locations in Maylands such as the historic Brickworks and the Peninsula area.
We also occasionally organise day trips to other historic areas such as the Fremantle Marine museum or Whiteman Park.
ANZAC Day service at the Maylands War Memorial
We help stage and support the annual ANZAC Day service at the Maylands War Memorial.
Participating in other events
We display our photographs, meet elderly people, and try answer any historic questions we receive at a few regular City of Bayswater events:
- the Come and Try Day in April
- the Swan River Autumn Festival held in autumn of each year, and
- the Pioneers Luncheon generally held in October.
As an affiliated member of Royal West Australian Historical Society Inc, we regularly attend its Annual Meeting of Affiliated Societies. These great occasions allow our members to bond and meet with other Societies of similar outlook. Most of these meetings are held over a weekend, alternating between country and city locations.
Our Christmas function
The Maylands Historical and Peninsula Association Inc holds its Christmas function in early-December at the Wing Bo Chinese Restaurant on Guildford Road at Maylands. All attending are asked to bring along a $5 present for secret Santa.
