The Maylands Historical and Peninsula Association Inc (MHPA) is a non-profit incorporated association focused on the history and heritage of the Perth suburb of Maylands in Western Australia. Our members, Committee, sponsors and newsletter advertisers all work together to help our Association to research, celebrate, share and care for the history and heritage of our fascinating suburb.
Our Association formed in October 1992 at a public meeting held in the Maylands Library. We were promoted by the Maylands Ratepayers and Residents Association and declared the Maylands Historical Society by the Mayor of the City of Stirling. We were officially registered as the Maylands Historical Society Incorporated on 1 December 1992.
On 5 June 2003, we merged with the Peninsula Association and changed our name to the Maylands Historical and Peninsula Association Inc. to reflect the caretaker work we helped with at the Old Peninsula Hotel in addition to our other historical work.
In 2012, the City of Bayswater provided our Association with a lease for the Old Police Station on Guildford Road at Maylands. We began operating from that building on Friday 19 October 2012 with an opening attended by past and current members, City of Bayswater Councillors and Mayor, and other members of the public.
In 2017, our Association celebrated 25 years of telling our stories of Maylands.
