Stanley McWhinney served with the 16th Australian Infantry Battalion of the Australian Imperial Force in WWI. His service number was 6305 and he held the rank of Private.
He died as Prisoner of War in France on 16 August 1917 aged 20 and is buried in Sauchy-Lestree Communal Cemetery, Sauchy-Lestree, Arras, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
His name is located at panel 80 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
