Patrick Joseph Whelan served with the 28th Australian Infantry Battalion of the Australian Imperial Force in WWI. His service number was 5113 and he held the rank of Lance Corporal.
He died of wounds in France on 18 April 1918 aged 27 and is buried in Vignacourt British Cemetery, Vignacourt, Picardie, France.
His name is located at panel 115 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
